Purpose
Innovo's Conflict of Interest Policy is intended to ensure that all decisions and actions made by Innovo Publishing LLC and its representatives are made in the best interest of the company’s mission to support the Great Commission, equip believers, and promote a positive Christian worldview through publishing. This policy exists to preserve the integrity, transparency, and trustworthiness of our relationships with authors, editors, reviewers, vendors, contractors, and ministry partners.
Scope
This policy applies to all:
- Employees
- Contractors
- Editors and reviewers
- Advisory board members
- Volunteers or interns
- Anyone involved in manuscript selection, theological review, editorial decisions, or content production
Definition of Conflict of Interest
A conflict of interest arises when personal interests, financial gain, or external relationships—whether actual, potential, or perceived—could compromise or appear to compromise:
- Biblical standards of truth, justice, and stewardship
- Editorial or theological impartiality
- Business decisions that impact authors, partners, vendors, or the public
Conflicts may be financial, relational, intellectual, doctrinal, or organizational in nature.
Examples of Conflicts of Interest
Examples of activities that may constitute a conflict include, but are not limited to:
- Receiving compensation or gifts from authors or vendors seeking favorable treatment or publishing decisions
- Editing or reviewing content from a close family member or friend without disclosure
- Publishing material that promotes doctrine or ideology inconsistent with Scripture or Innovo’s statement of faith
- Using proprietary company information for personal or competitive advantage
- Serving on boards or advisory teams of competitors without disclosure
- Diverting publishing opportunities or business leads for personal benefit
Disclosure Requirements
All individuals covered by this policy are required to:
- Disclose promptly and in writing any actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest to their supervisor or Innovo’s leadership team.
- Recuse themselves from related decision-making, voting, or editorial influence unless expressly authorized to continue with proper accountability.
- Annually reaffirm compliance with this policy and update disclosures as needed.
Review & Oversight
Innovo Publishing’s leadership team will:
- Review all disclosed conflicts and determine appropriate actions, such as reassignment, exclusion, or further monitoring
- Maintain confidentiality while handling disclosures with grace, wisdom, and fairness
- Update this policy periodically to ensure alignment with evolving best practices and biblical standards
Violations
Failure to disclose or manage a conflict of interest may result in:
- Reassignment of duties
- Revocation of publishing opportunities or editorial responsibilities
- Termination of contracts or employment
- Public correction if theological integrity or public trust is compromised
Commitment to Transparency
Innovo is committed to operating above reproach—serving authors, readers, and the body of Christ with accountability, integrity, and the highest ethical standards in all publishing matters.
Biblical Foundation
Innovo’s commitment to integrity is rooted in Scripture:
- “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” —Colossians 3:23
- “We are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of man.” —2 Corinthians 8:21
- “Abstain from all appearance of evil.” —1 Thessalonians 5:22
We affirm that conflicts of interest, left unaddressed, can erode trust, compromise witnesses, and bring dishonor to the name of Christ.
Above All Else...
